Deed Preparation, Document Preparation
Deed and document preparation services are provided on a flat-fee basis. The flat-fee is based upon a number of factors. For example, whether the client is a title company with whom we do regular business or a consumer; the complexity of the transfer and satisfying transfer and recordation tax exemptions (if applicable); and whether we are preparing documents or are also handling the signing (in person or online), processing, and recording (walk-through or e-recording).
Title company clients can pay our invoice at settlement of the underlying transaction.
Consumers should expect to pay our full fee before we complete and turn over our work product or submit documents for recording.
Other Matters
For other legal matters we typically work on an hourly-rate basis. Depending upon the client and matter we may require a retainer prior to beginning work, to be deposited in our IOLTA trust account and drawn from as time charges accrue.
In addition to legal fees, the client is generally responsible for all expenses incurred in connection with the representation, with billing on a monthly basis. All fees and expenses outstanding are due upon conclusion of our representation.
